Hale storm hits Londoners

CHERRY RED RECORDS COMBINED COUNTIES PREMIER NORTH
TUESDAY 18 MARCH 2025
EGHAM TOWN 4 (4) Harlem Hale 4 (2, 11, 25, 41)
EDGWARE & KINGSBURY 2 (2) Samuel Adetiba (20, pen), Adrian Anumba (29)

Harlem Hale was the Egham Town hero on Tuesday night, his four goal haul the first by a Sarnies’ player since Excellence Muhemba in the last game of the season before last, a 6-1 win over Oxhey Jets. With promotion rivals Amersham Town not playing again until 5 April, Egham put one of their two games in hand to good use with this win that moves them three points clear. Edgware & Kingsbury are fighting against relegation, and dropped below the dotted line with this loss, but they had put together a four game winning streak prior to losing on Saturday.
Hale grabbed the first of his quadruple in only the second minute, racing down the left, outpacing Temi Bankole, and curling a lovely shot inside the far post. His second had an element of luck about it, Connor Cullen taking the ball into the box, not quite connecting with an attempted lob over keeper Aram Sarkissian, and as the Londoners’ defence hesitated, Hale whacked the ball into the net.
Any thoughts that the visitors would crumble like Risborough Rangers did in Egham’s last home game were quickly dispelled with the award of a penalty conceded as the usually reliable back line got its wires crossed. Samuel Adetiba, who had scored four goals in their winning spurt, converted the spot kick. Hale had switched wings just before his hat-trick goal, more defensive slackness allowing him room to fire from the edge of the box. The concession of a second goal is almost unheard of, having happened only four times in the league in the previous 33 games, but a well hit shot by Adrian Anumba punished more inattention. The final goal of the night started with Cullen progressing down the right before getting the ball into an area that gave Tyrique Tekasala the room for a headed attempt that Hale skilfully diverted home.
It was no surprise that the second half failed to match the first. Neither side was unduly troubled in a keenly fought match that saw a remarkable “0” in bookings. Egham Town are at home to Virginia Water on Saturday and away to British Airways next Tuesday, at Spelthorne Sports’ ground.
